Cultural-historical collection contains several thematic groups of related museum objects, which help us learn about the cultural, historical and economic growth of Sisak. One of the first collections of the City Museum in Sisak was set up immediately after the museum was founded (1951) by putting together collections (art-handicrafts, historical and church) formed within the association "Museum and Library of Sisak" in 1942.
Professional research of the museum exhibits was started in 1962 by the first curator of the collection, Marko Andrijic, and was continued by curators Franjo Mrzljak, Zeljko Susek, Zoran Burojevic and Bozena Kraguljac.
The collection contains 2407 prepared inventory items grouped in two sub-collections:
- Collection of material objects: guild and social characteristics, handicraft products, sacral objects, furniture, glass, china, garments, personal belongings etc.
- Collection of archive materials: documented materials on history of Old town and battles with the Turks in Sisak, buildings - cultural monuments in the area of Sisak and its surroundings, development of ship building and handicraft, founding of associations and their activities, founding of schools, sacral institutions, personal documents of famous persons from Sisak.
